FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: The Achieving a Better Life Experience (ABLE) Act Passed in Senate

Washington, DC, December 17- Following overwhelming passage in the House of Representatives (404-17) on December 3rd, the Achieving a Better Life Experience (ABLE) Act (H.R. 647/S. 313) passed the US Senate as part of the Tax Extenders Package Tuesday night. The ABLE Act is the most bipartisan, bicameral bill before the 113th Congress. The President now has ten days to sign the bill for it to become law.

Vivek Murthy confirmed as 19th U.S. surgeon general

At long last, the U.S. has a new surgeon general. Dr. Vivek Murthy was confirmed into the position last night by the U.S. Senate, and will take over as the nation’s 19th “top doc.” Murthy was nominated for the position by President Barack Obama on Nov. 14, 2013, and will fill the post previously led by former surgeon general Regina Benjamin, who stepped down in July of 2013.
