Women's Sports Foundation

Brief Description of Your Organization's Activities::
The mission of the Women's Sports Foundation is to advance the lives of girls and women through sports and physical activity. This is accomplished through a variety of goals including:

  • Worldwide Leader
Be recognized as the foremost worldwide resource and advocate for girls and women in sports and fitness.

  • Expert Educator
To have an educated public that encourages females' participation and supports gender equality in sport.

  • Participation Catalyst
Increase sports and fitness participation of and leadership by girls and women.

  • Successful Fundraiser
Acquire the resources necessary to continue to be a catalyst for social change.

  • Excellent Steward
Manage internal resources in a cost-effective manner to ensure service quality and the public's trust.

The Foundation's program areas include participation, education, advocacy, research, and leadership.  The Information Referral Service helps educate the public by providing facts, statistics and background data on sports-related issues for women and girls.  The Women's Sports Foundation Speaker Service provides champion female athletes, academicians,
businesswomen and legal and health experts who give issue-oriented programs, clinics, speeches and workshops.  Our GoGirlGo! grant and curriculum program was founded five years ago with the goal of getting one million sedentary girls active. We send free educational curriculum kits emphasizing the importance of physical activity to girl-serving organizations nationwide.
