National Athletic Trainers' Association (NATA)
Description
The mission of the National Athletic Trainers’ Association is to enhance the quality of health care provided by certified athletic trainers and to advance the athletic training profession. The goals of the organization include promoting safe, healthful physical activity for athletes and patients.
The 30,000 members of the National Athletic Trainers’ Association work to provide injury prevention, assessment, treatment and rehabilitation services to athletes and those who become patients. Athletic trainers commonly work with athletes in secondary schools, colleges and professional sports. About 50 percent of athletic trainers work in outpatient therapy clinics, hospitals, commercial and military sites and other locations to provide services that improve the ability of patients to participate in physical activity, either before or after an injury. NATA advocates for state and federal policies that promote improved opportunities for safe, healthful physical activity.
