Northland Regional Chapter American College of Sports Medicine

Description

The Northland Regional Chapter of the American College of Sports Medicine (NACSM) is a diverse
group of professionals and students dedicated to the advancement of sports medicine and exercise science. NACSM is one of 14 regional chapters of the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM). States included in the region are Minnesota, Nebraska, North Dakota, and South Dakota. The chapter seeks to communicate scientific
information, provide stimulation, support, and a forum for research; foster professional peer interaction and professional growth. NACSM adheres to the mission of the American College of Sports Medicine on a regional level. The primary goals of the NACSM are to:

     *introduce students to the ACSM
     *serve as a proving ground for leadership in the ACSM
     *introduce the ACSM to nonmember professionals
     *broaden the base of participation in ACSM programs and activities
     *play an integral role in grass roots ACSM activities

A major focus of the Northland Chapter is to pursue the objectives of the ACSM by presenting educational meetings for sports medicine professionals and students at the regional level.

The NACSM is dedicated to generating and disseminating knowledge concerning the motivation,
responses, adaptations and health aspects of person engaged in sport and exercise.  NACSM generates and communicates research and information on the effect of sports, exercise, and other physical activities on the general health of human beings of all ages.  The NACSM currently holds a minimum of two meeting annually to achieve these goals.
