American Association for Physical Activity and Recreation (AAPAR)

Brief Description of Your Organization's Activities::

AAPAR is dedicated to enhancing quality of life by promoting creative and active lifestyles through meaningful, inclusive physical activity, recreation and fitness experiences across the lifespan with particular focus on community-based programs.

Our 8000 members are teachers, professors, trainers, community leaders, and students in the field of physical activity and recreation. We offer up-to-date information on specific areas of interest through targeted journals and other publications; mentoring, teaching, and training opportunities; recognized standards of practice and dissemination of “best practice” suggestions; credentialing and CEU’s; recreational and adventure opportunities; golf outings (where we all shoot PAR, of course!); workshops and conferences on such topics as Adapted Physical Education, Teaching Adventure Skills in the Gym, Training and Encouraging Senior Activity, and Adapted Aquatics; advocacy at the national level; the satisfaction of knowing you’re playing on a very cool team; plus
friendships, fitness, and fun!
