Brief Description of Your Organization's Activities::
American Kinesiotherapy Association (AKTA) is a nonprofit membership organization that advocates for the practice and education of Registered Kinesiotherapists and the underserved populations they treat. Kinesiotherapists specialize in special needs populations to deliver programs designed to reverse or minimize debilitation and to enhance the functional capacity of medically stable patients in wellness, sub-acute, or extended care settings. Kinesiotherapists take a holistic and integrated approach to healing that includes exercise, emotional and social therapies, and strategies to help a patient deal with the physical and emotional trauma associated with a prolonged recovery.

The mission of the AKTA is to promote and improve national recognition of the Kinesiotherapy profession. The Association will serve the interests of its members and will work to enhance the standard of care provided by Kinesiotherapists.

The AKTA is committed to providing support for all the populations that Kinesiotherapists serve including but not limited to: adults, children with disabilities, seniors , amputees, persons injured while working, psychiatric patients, stroke and other neurological impairments, but most importantly we are committed to serving our veterans. Today 60% of Kinesiotherapits work in the Veteran Affairs Medical System serving our veterans and any organizations that shares that commitment to our service men and women we fully support.
