Blind Stokers Club

Brief Description of Your Organization's Activities::

The mission of the Blind Stokers Club (BSC) is to share the sport of bicycling with those who cannot see well enough to pilot a bike. The BSC applies principles of setting and attaining a goal, fundraising, mentoring, teamwork, along with the joy and freedom of bicycling and the adventure of travel with a group.

The BSC conducts an inclusive bicycle program, consisting of partnered teams of cyclists riding tandem bicycles for 2. The sighted captain or pilot is the front position, and the blind or visually impaired stoker, or rear position, is the power-maker for the team. BSC tandem teams engage in a series of training rides culminating in the annual Cycling for Sight benefit bike tour. Members can set and achieve unlimited goals within the sport of blind cycling, all the way to the Paralympic level.
