Bio

Eric Utterback has spent the past ten years working in the Indianapolis area. Utterback returned to the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM) in the summer of 2006 as director of special projects after recently serving two years as the director of athletics development for Indiana University – Purdue University Indianapolis (IUPUI). In a prior stint with ACSM, Utterback worked as assistant director of corporate relations and advancement where he sold and managed corporate partnerships with a value of over $2.3 million with brands such as Gatorade, Reebok, and Wheaties. He also raised $385,500 in corporate sponsorships for sports medicine and exercise science conferences. In addition, he served as project manager for the College’s annual fund and planned giving initiatives.

Prior to his work at the ACSM, Utterback spent two years as marketing manager of the Marsh Fresh Express brand for Marsh Supermarkets, Inc. He helped increase the brand’s corporate employee discount partnerships by 59% and its retirement community resident discount partnerships by 53%. Under his leadership, the brand saw total orders and sales increase 10%.

Utterback also spent four years working for the Indianapolis Zoological Society, Inc. His first two years were spent as an events and advertising manager where he planned, managed and marketed special events for the Zoo and White River Gardens that ranged from a few hundred to 80,000 attendees. His final two years were spent as the Society’s corporate sponsorship manager. In that position he sold and managed $500,000 in event and education program sponsorships and increased corporate sponsorship program sales 31%.
