September 14, 2011
On Saturday, September 24, 2011, the President's Council on Fitness, Sports and Nutrition (PCFSN) will make a big announcement about the Million PALA Challenge during Nickelodeon’s 8th annual Worldwide Day of Play (WWDOP) in Washington, D.C. The event will be held at the Ellipse on the National Mall from 10 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. The Million PALA Challenge is a joint PCFSN-Let's Move! initiative launched last September to encourage one million Americans to earn their Presidential Active Lifestyle Award (PALA).
WWDOP is part of Nickelodeon’s ongoing Big Help effort to empower kids to make healthy choices. Nickelodeon partnered with PCFSN earlier this year to promote their own PALA challenge. Through their vast marketing channels and popular on-air talent, they helped us reach millions of kids and families.
Between 12 p.m. and 3 p.m. on September 24th Nickelodeon networks will "go dark" to inspire kids to turn off the television and go outside and play. WWDOP is free and open to everyone, so if you are in the D.C. area on September 24th come out and join us! Thousands of families, schools, and organizations will also host local events across the country. If you can't come to D.C., why not host a WWDOP in your own city or town? Click here to learn how.
