Betty Wright Swim Center at Abilities United

Brief Description of Your Organization's Activities::

Abilities United champions people with developmental and physical challenges and provides the training, education, and support they need to lead the lives they choose. The Betty Wright Swim Center is the only full-service, public warm water therapy center in the San Francisco Bay Area. It has developed a holistic program design that includes aquatic recreation, fitness and rehabilitation all in one pool. There is clinical oversight of all services by a licensed physical therapist.

The organization serves more than 2,500 individuals. Many individuals have various neurological and/or muscularskeletal challenges that are due to temporary or long-term disability, trauma, injury or disease. Additional, the program offers a prolific swim school where children with severe disabilities swim alongside children with typical development, allowing abled-bodied individuals to increase awareness of people with disabilities.
