International Health, Racquet & Sportsclub Association (IHRSA)

Brief Description of Your Organization's Activities::

IHRSA's mission is to grow, protect and promote the health and fitness industry.

The fitness industry is poised to step up as a solution to the growing public health crisis of obesity and overweight. IHRSA proudly represents and supports this goal through initiatives which help promote healthy, active lifestyles, such as Get Active America!, 120 Million by 2010, and our newest initiative: 'I Lost It at the Club.'

Public Policy Agenda:  IHRSA is proud to be the primary defender and promoter of the health club industry
in Washington, DC and in state capitals across the country. IHRSA's Public Policy agenda is both defensive and offensive. IHRSA seeks to prevent the government from doing things that are harmful to your business, and to strengthen initiatives that will help grow your business.

Meetings and Events:  IHRSA is busy year-round, hosting the industry's most successful events including:

    * IHRSA's International Convention & Trade Show the industry's premier event
    * Legislative Summit
    * Institute for Professional Club Management
    * Club Business Entrepreneur Conference

And as a global association, IHRSA hosts three annual meetings outside the U.S.:

    * IHRSA / Fitness Brasil Conference & Trade Show
    * European Congress
    * Asia-Pacific Forum

Research & Information:  Through annual surveys, the IHRSA Research Department collects key operational data
related to the health club industry. Magazines and resources speak to the needs of running a successful fitness business anywhere in the world. If you're looking for industry benchmarks, best practices, and trends, go to IHRSA's research, magazines (Club Business International, Club Business Europe, Fitness Business Latin America)
and other information resources.
