Far West Wheelchair Sports

Brief Description of Your Organization's Activities:: 

The mission of Far West Wheelchair Sports (FWWS) is to promote sports competition, recreation and fitness to people with physical disabilities and to recognize those achievements within the community.  The sports programs provided by Far West give individuals with disabilities various opportunities to engage in physical activity on a weekly, year-round basis.

The regional and national competitions hosted by Far West provide an opportunity for local athletes to compete against the nation’s best competitors, and they also give the general public an opportunity to witness these highly skilled athletes in action.  The publicity generated by these elite events educates the public on the exciting and competitive nature of wheelchair sports.

Far West Wheelchair Sports partners with the City of San José to provide sport and recreational opportunities for persons with physical disabilities. opportunities include Wheelchair Basketball, Wheelchair Tennis, Adapted Fitness, Adapted Golf, Northern California week long Junior sports camp for youth ages 5-21, Wheelchair Lacrosse, Powersoccer, sport clinics and competitions.

Area of expertise includes adapted sports programs, camps, clinics and competitions.
