Disabled Sports USA Far West

Brief Description of Your Organization's Activities:: 

The mission of Disabled Sports USA Far West is to provide affordable inclusive physical and recreational activities that build health and confidence. They are the founding chapter of Disabled Sports USA, the nations's largest non-profit, multi-sport and multi-disability organization. Today there are over 90 chapters serving more than 60,000 people nationwide. Disabled Sports USA Far West was founded in 1967 and is dedicated to innovative programs that provide an environment with positivie therapeutic and phsychological outcomes. Individuals are empowered to reach their full potential. Their programs allow individuals fo all abilities to discover their own strength and interests.

With an emphasis on safety, fun and learning, Disabled Sports encouragesparticipation by individuals of all ages and abilities, including those with orthopedic, spinal cord, neuromuscular, visual and hearing impairments.  Included, too, are those with cognitive and developmental disabilities.

They believe that the family is the true heart of an integrated society.  Therefore, they encourage the whole family to participate in many of our programs and activities. By uniting families through recreational activities, we strengthen the well being of the entire family while ending the isolation of individuals with disabilities.

Disabled Sports USA Far West leads the way in adaptive sports and recreation for people with disabilities. With over 40 years of experience, their trained staff and volunteers guide you in discovering life without limits. They offer instruction in snow skiing, snowboarding, water skiing, white water rafting, cycling, 4-Wheel drive adventures, paddle sports and other outdoor recreation.
