City of Alameda Commission on Disability Issues

Brief Description of Your Organization's Activities::

The mission of the City of Alameda Commission on Disability Issues is to make recommendations to City Council and work to integrate people with physical and/or disabilities into all aspects of community. In 2009 they held the first Special Needs, Special Services Resource Fair. Over 40 organizations providing services/resources to people with disabilities attended. In that same year they also produced a Resource Directory that is housed on the City government's website and available in hard copy. The City of Alameda Commission on Disability Issues also organized the first Accessible Exercise Program for month of October to celebrate Disability Awareness Month.
