Brief Description of Your Organization's Activities::

Sit'N'Dance is an adapted dance program that uses simple, easy to follow moves demonstrated by the instructor and copied by the participants. Every effort is made to keep the spirit of the dance and many dance styles can be taught depending on the interests of the group (ballroom, folk, swing, party dances, belly dance).

Currently seated dance classes are being provided in nursing homes, long term care facilities, seniors’ residences, adult day programs, dementia programs and some programs for children with disabilities. Workshops and conference presentations are available to train facilitators to teach adapted seated dance.

Two kits have been developed as a grant project to provide materials for teaching adapted seated dance. They include an instructional DVD and syllabus as well as a CD of adapted music (slowed and shortened).
