Vortex Fitness Equipment

Brief Description of Your Organization's Activities::

The mission of Vortex Fitness Equipment is to develop innovative fitness equipment to better people's lives throughout the U.S. and the world.

Vortex has donated its Accessible Functional Trainer to Sheryl Rosa, director of the Partnership Program at the South Shore YMCA in Quincy, MA. This program is designed to bring strength and fitness training to people with disabilities. They have developed a small footprint accessible strength training area and program that can accommodate people with disabilities as well as the general population.

Vortex Fitness Equipment offers a new solution to include people with disabilities in strength training areas, called “A Space for All to Train.” This unique, small foot-print, low-cost solution  uses one to four multi-purpose Vortex dually accessible, universally designed units to meet all resistance training needs in a way that is easy to get to, simple to use, and requires little to no adjustments. In fact, one solution uses only 50 square feet of space, another only 200 sq. ft., at a cost ranging from $9,000 - $18,000. “We've designed a fitness solution for people with disabilities that can fit into most existing fitness centers with very little in facility design change and expense,” explains Bob Piane, the CEO of Vortex.
