APS Healthcare/Southwestern PA Healthcare Quality Unit

The HCQU provides technical assistance and physical and behavioral health related trainings to developmental disability service systems and support staff to better assist people with developmental disabilities and also collects data via individual health risk profiles to focus our activities in improving the quality of care for individuals.

The HCQU disseminates information and builds capacity so individuals with developmental disabilities may receive better healthcare and have access to community opportunities.

The HCQU also supports professionals in building capacity in the community. Often there is limited access to fitness facilities or fitness trainers who are comfortable working with people with developmental disabilities. The HCQU is attempting to break these barriers so people with developmental disabilities can have access to fitness opportunities
